A new species and new record of eriophyoid mites (Trombidiformes - Eriophyoidea) from mango in Egypt with a note on the population dynamics of four eriophyoid species

1 Fayoum University, Faculty of Eng., Dept. of Electronics and Communication Eng. Fayoum, Egypt

Abstract

During surveys of eriophyoid mites on Mangifera indica L. (Anacardiaceae) in Egypt, a new species, Aceria aegyptindicae sp. nov., was collected and is here described and illustrated. This species was found in colonies as an inquiline, under waxy coatings on both leaf surfaces, usually along the midribs, in association with Cisaberoptus kenyae Keifer, 1966. Neocalacarus mangiferae ChannaBasavanna, 1966 is recorded for the first time from Egypt and a supplementary morphological description and illustrations are given. All stages of C. kenyae are re-described, and information about other eriophyoid mites collected from mango orchards is provided.
